5 Must-watch movies this weekend.

Reviews + Movie list for your perusal,  Ladies and Gentlemen. Enjoy!

Not impossible, yea?

1. Long shot: Charlize Theron and Seth Rogan turn on the heat in this smashing romcom.
Synopsis: Fred Flarsky (Seth Rogan)  is a gifted and free-spirited journalist who has a knack for getting into trouble (Boy, he did get into trouble!). Charlotte Field (Charlize Theron) is one of the most influential (and hottest) women in the world -- a smart, sophisticated and accomplished politician. When Fred unexpectedly runs into Charlotte, he soon realizes that she was his former baby sitter and childhood crush (awww). When Charlotte decides to make a run for the presidency, (First female president of the free thinking world) she impulsively hires Fred as her speechwriter -- much to the dismay (oh, yes, DISMAY) of her trusted advisers. (They did not like Fred at all. Ouch)
Review: Comedy in this movie was well scripted and relatable, even though quite repetitive with a bit of the absurd, they couldn't have chosen a more perfect cast. 7/10, R- rated for being raunchy (Sexual content, language and drug use) so PG is advised ;)
Unfortunately, Long Shot will not be coming to Netflix in the foreseeable future. Long Shot was distributed by Summit Entertainment, and Summit Entertainment has an exclusive contract with Netflix's arch-rival HBO for streaming rights for its new films. Ouch.
If you do watch this movie this weekend, (or have seen it already...) drop a comment for me here!

2. Kissing Booth 2: When everything you thought you wanted wasn't every actually wanted? Is commitment impossible in this generation?
Synopsis: With college decisions looming, Elle juggles her long-distance romance with Noah, changing relationship with bestie Lee and feelings for a new classmate.
The film is a direct sequel to the 2018 film The Kissing Booth. Based on the novel The Kissing Booth 2: Going the Distance by Beth Reekles, the film stars Joey King, Joel Courtney and Jacob Elordi.
Review: Critics feel it was an improvement over its predecessor, (is it really?) though reviews were generally negative. (2.5/10... Ouch) A third installment is scheduled to be released in 2021 (Over flogging it, are we?) And I can't blame them for leaving it open. Most movies are now intentionally ended with an opening for a sequel.
For highschool movie lovers, it has the feels and all. The betrayal, crushes and star crossed loves, but the 'happily ever after doesn't seem clean cut. Decisions, decisions. What do you think Elle should choose? Harvard with Noah? Or Berkeley with Lee?

3. Miracle in Cell number 7.
The Turkish, top ten movie on Netflix is actually an adaptation of a South Korean original drama comedy released in 2013. While following similar themes of deep father daughter bonds, the 2019, Netflix version pulls on the heartstrings and has been said to make even men cry!
Synopsis: The drama centers around the relationship between a six year old girl (Nisa Sofiya), and her mentally challenged father(Aras Bulut) who was accused of murdering the daughter of a Lieutenant Colonel.
Review: It is seen as an improvement on the original and rated 7/10. Splendid performances and perfect casting, what more could any movie watcher want?

4. Extraction: A Chris Hemsworth movie? We're watching anyway it turns out! 💃💃
So when I noticed the Ikorodu boys did a number on this action adventure 2020 movie and were even invited to the US for the premiere, I knew I had to watch!

Synopsis: A black-market mercenary who has nothing to lose is hired to rescue the kidnapped son of an imprisoned international crime lord. But in the murky underworld of weapons dealers and drug traffickers, an already deadly mission approaches the impossible.

Review: I may not approve of a boy getting to be a mercenary's therapist and getting him to talk about himself so easily, but I'll say the method helped the bonding process and helped Tyler's (Chris Hemsworth) resolve not to leave Ovi (Rudhraksh Jaiswal),
behind. Rated 6.7, this action packed movie is one to watch till the end. Hold on to your chairs/beds/floors as you watch out for explosions, blood, and blown up vehicles. And, yes... They left it open for a sequel. Will it meet up to the first? I guess we'll find out. 😉

5. Faster: A Dwayne Johnson and cars movie? Yes please.
Stumbled on this action movie on Netflix and even though it's a decade old (2010), it's what I'd call 'Oldie but Goldie'.
Synopsis: After serving a ten-year sentence, Driver sets out to avenge his brother's murder while being pursued by a police officer and an assassin.
Review: Driver, cop and killer form the perfect chase triangle in this movie rated 6/10, and till the end, they don't know who is after whom. Who else noticed that  Dwayne doesn't die in movies? Oops, spoiler alert 😉.

Do comeback and tell me which of the movies you enjoyed. Seen the movies already? Leave your ratings in the comment section. Have an amazing weekend people.
See you soon.
XoXo, RHD 💜💜
