Styling 101: Wardrobe Organising pro tips to live by.

Welcome aboard yet another style class!

We've learned about must-have items to include in our wardrobes in the last episode.

Now, let's talk how to organize those clothes in the wardrobe for efficient daily styling, and to reduce (keyword being reduce) the "I have nothing to wear syndrome".

1. First thing to do will be to empty your wardrobe, closet, whatever you store your clothes in.... Bring everything out. Yeah, its as scary as it sounds, but hey, a stylish, and effective wardrobe is the goal here. It's for the greater good. 😖

So, bring it on baby! Remember, It's going to get messier before it gets neater, and ultimately; more stylish.

2. Next, you sort, and fold the clothes into the following categories:

Jackets

Shirts

Roundnecks/polos

Put on the sorting hat 'Harry' 😁😉

Trousers

Shorts

Skirts

Dresses (Soft, thick, party, church/mosque/redcarpet worthy)

Lounge wear

Sport wear/jerseys

Sleepwear

Underwear

Swimwear

Head gear (Caps, hats, scarves, shawls, beanies)

Others (specify)

3. As you fold, pick out the torn, worn out, faded, patched up clothes, the ones that no longer give you joy (according to Marie Kondo), the ones that barely or never fit you to start with, clothes you haven't you haven't worn in over a year (they might even be new!) And put them in separate piles. Give out the ones that are still presentable, but you know deep down, you'll never/shouldn't wear again, and dispose the rest in an environmental friendly manner.

Note: If you haven't worn them in a year, you can do without them. Yeah, tough love. Take them out. You'll be glad you did.

4. Once you've successfully created the different piles of clothing, start stuffing your wardrobe! Well, arranging the clothes really...

Since you've divided your wardrobe into sections; Pile them accordingly: Underwear, hanged clothing, foldable clothing, soft clothing, etc.

Now, according to Marie Kondo(wardrobe organising expert), piling sideways will give your wardrobe more space, and room to expand. So, small closet space? No worries. Just fold the right way.

5. Chose an arrangement style you'll remember. Functionality? Frequency? Regularity? According to types of clothes? According to days of the week? I use type of clothes. And it helps me know where everything is.

Large closet space or not, when well organized, it's aesthetically pleasing.

Styling yourself can be lot, but having a well organized closet space is pleasing to the eyes, and can potentially make picking out clothes more fun/less stressful. Of course, you have to learn to put things back the way they should be😉.

Note: Drawer inserts can give your closet more space. Colour layering also helps you to know where to look.

From time to time, we'll need a second opinion on what to wear. Usually our friends and family fit this description, but what happens when everyone else is occupied?
